About & My Story
So, where did it all start?
Strap in, sit back, and put your feet up – I’m going to take you on the journey of how Electric Scooter Insider was born.
Let’s rewind the clock to 2016 when I launched GPS.com.au. This resource connected companies that rely on transportation to improve their efficiency, productivity, and compliance with government legislation with the best-suited telematics partners, like Verizon and Fleetmatics.
This is where my interest in transportation began.
As I dived further into the world of transportation technologies, I stumbled upon autonomous mobility. I was immediately drawn to it, so much so that I dedicated myself to understanding how it could change the landscape of future transportation. With my existing knowledge of how companies like Verizon were helping to make large fleets of vehicles operate efficiently, I explored how driverless cars would impact the world.
(All of this will make sense, keep reading)
I decided to conduct my own data-driven research studies.
Autonomous driving technologies promised to revolutionize the automotive industry by improving vehicle safety and reducing traffic accidents, but I wanted to understand what the impact of this could be on GDP. So, I did just that … and it went viral.
Fast forward to 2018 when I heard the news of Lime and Bird piloting shared scooter schemes in Santa Monica. The excitable kid inside me immediately sprung into action.
Everywhere I looked I kept seeing people gliding along city streets and boardwalks.
One of the first times I saw someone riding an electric scooter
As I was hailing a ride through Downtown Los Angeles I saw this guy gliding through the city streets.
My excitement for these trend-setting transportation toys turned into a revelation. From bumper-to-bumper traffic to slogging it in a sweaty subway squashed between jostling bodies and breathing stale air, the emergence of electric scooters was going to completely change inner-city travel. I wanted to be a part of that.
My passion for micro-mobility was ignited.
Then it hit me.
What if you didn’t have to rent a scooter? What if you could own one? Surely this would be more economical? After all, the majority of inner-city commutes are short.
My mind was racing, I started to research independent electric scooter companies and soon realized that there was no online resource to help connect consumers, like me and you, with the best electric scooter.
And so, on 8th January 2019, Electric Scooter Insider was born.
Since then, I have made it my mission to help people, like you, seamlessly find, learn about, and choose the right electric scooter.
I even went back to my researching grass-roots and delved into micro-mobility. Over the years, I’ve been interviewed by TV anchor and reporter Jayson Luber, invited to write for established automotive publications, and featured on news sites and podcasts.
You can listen to my interview with TV anchor and reporter Jayson Luber where we discuss the rise of electric scooters and my study that reveals the cost advantages of owning a scooter here (18.45 to 32.00):
I’ve now amassed over 70 scooters in my database, from adults to kids, fast to long-range, cheap to premium, and compared them all against each other to create a catalogue of buyer guides and reviews to help you find the right electric scooter for your needs.
I do hands-on-reviews of as many scooters as I can get so I can write fair, honest, and accurate assessments of each. I don’t just focus on the good, I also highlight the bad to let you be the judge.
I’m happy to help anyone in search of an electric scooter. You can contact me anytime via email: firstname.lastname@example.org
